Tip Calculator: How Much to Leave and How to Split the Bill
We have launched the Tip Calculator — a small tool for a situation that happens every week: the bill is on the table and you are deciding how much to leave. The calculator works out the tip from a percentage, shows the total and can split the bill between a group.

Bill, percentage, done
Enter the bill amount and choose a tip percentage — 10%, 15% or 20% — or drag the slider. The calculator instantly shows the tip amount and the total to pay. The slider is handy when you want to round: pull it to a neat figure and see what percentage that gives. Below you will find a guide to customary tip levels in restaurants, cafés, taxis and salons.
Splitting the bill evenly
A group of five, a bill of 120 — how much per person with the tip? Enter the number of guests and the calculator divides the total evenly: at 15% the total is 138, which is 27.60 each. No arguments and no math on a phone calculator: one field and everything is clear.
How much is customary to tip
Norms vary by country and venue. In the US and Canada 15–20% is standard for good table service; in the UK around 10–12% is typical, often simply by rounding up; in much of continental Europe a service charge is included in the bill, so extra tipping is optional. The calculator will not decide for you, but it computes quickly and without mistakes.
A tip is, in essence, a percentage of an amount, so the Percentage Calculator is a good companion to this calculator. And if dinner is followed by a trip, the fuel will work out the cost of the drive: it computes the fuel cost of a journey and how far your budget takes you.
The calculation runs on your device. The calculator is free and requires no registration.
